Public Safety Alert Issued Concerning Escaped Inmate

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police are joining other police services across Ontario in issuing a community alert concerning a search for Federal Inmate David Maracle.

While there is no information to indicate Maracle is in the Waterloo Region area, an alert is being issued as a public safety concern.

Maracle walked away from the Henry Trail Correctional Facility, located at 1453 Bath Road in Kingston, at 8 p.m. on January 22, 2017.

Maracle has an extensive criminal history of convictions, which include possession of a weapon, break and enter, assault, kidnapping, sexual assaults and overcome resistance choking.

Maracle, 51, is described as a First Nations man, five-feet 10-inches tall, 200 pounds with short, dark hair. When last seen he was wearing green/grey cargo pants, a white T-shirt and a dark jacket/sweater.
